The Fall season is coming to an end. Its been a great fall and a great start for some of the new guys in the program. Everyone is really looking forward to the spring!
Last week was a very busy time for the Hawks program. We just successfully completed the 3rd annual Alumni Game, the first Fall Hawks Mini Camp, and the first 2 games of the Maroon and Gray Fall World Series. Each event was great, which helped moved the program closer to our spring time goals.
Next weekend the Hawks will take the field again for the second double-header for the fall World Series. The Gray Team, which is led by seniors Matt Witte, Elliot Alston, and Luis Mena, have a two games to none lead over the Maroon Team.
Keep working hard!

Mid-Fall Ball
The Fall season is just over half way finished, and the team is really starting to form together. The coaching staff brought in a large number of new faces to help generate a new passion for the program.
The guys are working hard on and off the field in the weight room.
Keep up the good work... great things will happen!

Rain Rain Rain
Its been raining since Saturday afternoon and no one is more upset that the field is wet than me. If there is a chance that the field will be playable by tomorrow afternoon then the coaching staff will do everything necessaryto make sure our boys get to play.
Wednesday's game is another game in which the UMES baseball team can win. But we need to keep in mind that if we do not play hard then similar results will continue to find us through-out the season. There is no reason to make excuses for poor play. It is time our players take it upon themselves to step up their level of concentration and play while taking responsibility for their own actions.
Despite what happens in the classroom, in the dugout, in the locker room, or in between the lines on the field there is only two things a ball player can control.... his attitude and his effort. If the entire team puts forth their best effort while maintaining a positive attitude, good results will come. I promise.

Friday Night
Games got pushed back tomorrow until 4pm across the bridge. The team is excited about the victory we had on Wednesday night at LaSalle and is looking to carry the momentum into this opening conference weekend at Coppin State.
Had a light practice today due to the poor weather outside. Its good to keep the guys fresh during these down times during the season.
Also, the coaches are excited to see the old Phil Vaughn is back and playing hard, while Tre-von Johnson is really stepping up as a freshman. But its time the older guys start getting it together and turn this season around.... it can still be a special one.
Keep working hard guys.
